I am thankfull for ....

… keeping inside my heart Thanksgiving!

… my beautiful house that I can smile to my star fruit tree every time I get home.

… my kids, in all ways, they make me grow, cry, laugh and be a better person every day. They really fulfill my life and give it a lot of meaning.

… André to be alive, to work hard, be grumpy but always for the Family.

… Pedro’s smile missing some teeth. Oh boy! He is growing!

… all the “Mom! You ‘re cool!” from Luís to compensate for his desire to buy a new Mom sometimes. hahaha

... meeting old friends and get the chance to know interesting people.

… still believe we can make the world a better place!

getting better

Still in hospital, but since yesterday, in a regular room. Luís got deregulated with the change, all new staff and he got anxious every time someone enters the room. By now, he is almost fine again with that.

He is having fewer panic attacks, that a plus for a kid with autism in hospital, but he is eating peanuts now. Yeah! He hasn’t been eating for a week, whatever he wants, he can have.

His breathing is still weak, but his oxygen level is stabilized. His heart beat still high, the doctors says it is because he just has 1/3 of a lung working well … Oh God! Several moments I thought I would loose him! It is one of the worse situations in life having your child in a hospital bed and all the equipment that is tracking his vital signs start beeping and 7 people rushing inside the room.

I believe the worse is past, now we are going uphill and he already feels like going home. We are waiting for some exams and the doctor’s visit to know the next step.

I really want to be back home by Thursday. Let’s see…

Ambulance Ride

One more for our lives! Luís got sick last Friday, he had a stomachache and was so so during the weekend. Monday was a Holliday over here and he spent all day in bed, on Tuesday I took him to the ER (over here things work different, you just take to ER when you are sick, there is no need to be serious, the doctor’s office just works by appointments) so I was fine with that I told Pedro “see you soon”.

In the ER we learned Luís was with pneumonia in both lungs, more than 2/3 of each lung was affected and he needed to be in hospital. I could not image that so we were in the local small town hospital from a in developing Country, I can say, “very scary” so we started working on move Luís to the big city. On Wednesday we were already here in a very good (one of the best hospitals) in São Paulo. For that he needed an ambulance with all possible inside, they call UTI ambulance (intensive care one).

He was hooked to oxygen and, when possible (he hates it) he is with artificial breathing mask/machine to open his lungs. Last night was really hard, he was with very low heart beat and his vision was red, they moved him to an intensive care room.

This morning he woke up looking better, he could eat, he was not eating since Sunday, nights are the worse time so we are enjoying the day time.

We hope to be back home soon, I miss Pedro and thanks God we is doing great, we “rent” a Gamma (a friend of mine’s Mom) plus some other friend helping. Luís miss him brother too, and his home. But I think we still have around 4 days here.

Pérolas do Luís

- A mãe tá chata! - dizendo para a Eli; - Você não é mais minha mãe! - completando comigo;
