Ready for X-mas

It has been magical, Luís is just enjoying all X-mas preparation. Since he is on vacations earlier because of his sickness (and he is not tottaly well yet) we spend the most part of the day at home doing Christmas stuff.
Every night he tells he is going to sleep so Santa can come, I explained him that Santa just come when kids are sleeping.
Today we set a counting down calendar, we have the ones that count up to 24 or 25, so we made one from 8 to zero. It makes more sense to him.
He got soap, put on his face and declared: "Look! I am Santa!", the cute part, he said that in portuguese :)

Back home in time for dinner ...

Back home in time for thanksgiving, but instead a roasted turky we had raw fish (japanese food).

I was glad to get out of hospital with Luís, he still needs care. He is on medicine until the 7th and he is doing therapy to get his lungs working well again. The bottom part from the right lung is not working yet, he feels tired, it is very hot and this doesn't help energy going, the good, Luís loves the guy that comes to work with him, he does almost all the breathing exercices, I think he miss being in therapy :)

We had some situations this week, Pedro was quite jelous and made time hard for me.

On Tuesday the doctor decided to take off Luís' hook (I don't know how to call it) used to get the medicine IV with the promiseLuís would take it by mouth. At 9 PM, medicine time Luís refused to take it. I had to drive back o SP to a main hospital to get it in the muscle, that hurts so much ... 5 doctors were concerned by Luís, I was so upset he wouldn't listen to me ... his butt and leg were hurting until the following day, and he learned and repeats to André: "better listen to Mom!"
:)

I am thankfull for ....

… keeping inside my heart Thanksgiving!

… my beautiful house that I can smile to my star fruit tree every time I get home.

… my kids, in all ways, they make me grow, cry, laugh and be a better person every day. They really fulfill my life and give it a lot of meaning.

… André to be alive, to work hard, be grumpy but always for the Family.

… Pedro’s smile missing some teeth. Oh boy! He is growing!

… all the “Mom! You ‘re cool!” from Luís to compensate for his desire to buy a new Mom sometimes. hahaha

... meeting old friends and get the chance to know interesting people.

… still believe we can make the world a better place!

getting better

Still in hospital, but since yesterday, in a regular room. Luís got deregulated with the change, all new staff and he got anxious every time someone enters the room. By now, he is almost fine again with that.

He is having fewer panic attacks, that a plus for a kid with autism in hospital, but he is eating peanuts now. Yeah! He hasn’t been eating for a week, whatever he wants, he can have.

His breathing is still weak, but his oxygen level is stabilized. His heart beat still high, the doctors says it is because he just has 1/3 of a lung working well … Oh God! Several moments I thought I would loose him! It is one of the worse situations in life having your child in a hospital bed and all the equipment that is tracking his vital signs start beeping and 7 people rushing inside the room.

I believe the worse is past, now we are going uphill and he already feels like going home. We are waiting for some exams and the doctor’s visit to know the next step.

I really want to be back home by Thursday. Let’s see…

Ambulance Ride

One more for our lives! Luís got sick last Friday, he had a stomachache and was so so during the weekend. Monday was a Holliday over here and he spent all day in bed, on Tuesday I took him to the ER (over here things work different, you just take to ER when you are sick, there is no need to be serious, the doctor’s office just works by appointments) so I was fine with that I told Pedro “see you soon”.

In the ER we learned Luís was with pneumonia in both lungs, more than 2/3 of each lung was affected and he needed to be in hospital. I could not image that so we were in the local small town hospital from a in developing Country, I can say, “very scary” so we started working on move Luís to the big city. On Wednesday we were already here in a very good (one of the best hospitals) in São Paulo. For that he needed an ambulance with all possible inside, they call UTI ambulance (intensive care one).

He was hooked to oxygen and, when possible (he hates it) he is with artificial breathing mask/machine to open his lungs. Last night was really hard, he was with very low heart beat and his vision was red, they moved him to an intensive care room.

This morning he woke up looking better, he could eat, he was not eating since Sunday, nights are the worse time so we are enjoying the day time.

We hope to be back home soon, I miss Pedro and thanks God we is doing great, we “rent” a Gamma (a friend of mine’s Mom) plus some other friend helping. Luís miss him brother too, and his home. But I think we still have around 4 days here.

Pérolas do Luís

- A mãe tá chata! - dizendo para a Eli; - Você não é mais minha mãe! - completando comigo;

Pedro ate birthday cake!

That was at Murilo's (the sweet cousin) birthday party, Pedro was so comfortable around the kids, Luis had so much fun watching the video games. And as a big plus Pedro got some bites from the birthday cake, that is close to a miracle, it is so fun to see he is open up to the world, in little tiny steps, but doing it :)

CEASA

We took the boys to the fresh food market for a "sensory feast". There we found cashew and we had to take a picture to Teacher Wendy. Remember? Strawberries are not the only fruit with seeds on the outside, cashew nut is the nut that grows outside a fruit (delicious one).

Happy Birthday to Pedro

It was what Luís wrote to Pedro on the note.

I plan a happy day for Pedro, so no parties today (it is going to be tomorrow), I took the boys to the fire station, Pedro's favorite besides a chicken coop.
